Next 4-inch iPhone to be based on the 5s, new rumor claims

Ever since Apple decided to join its competitors in selling devices larger than 4 inches, we've heard countless rumors saying that the Cupertino company hasn't totally given up on the smaller form-factor. New 4-inch iPhones have been "imminent" quite a few times already, but none of those things actually managed to pan out.
Today we're already at the second rumor about the next small Apple smartphone. A few hours ago we heard that an iPhone 6c was on track for release in 2016, but now a new report seems to contradict that.

First off, it says that there will be a new 4" iPhone, yes, but it will be based on the iPhone 5s (pictured above) and not the 5c. The design of this new device should thus be extremely close to that of the iPhone 5s, while featuring some updated internals.
We can allegedly expect to see the A8 chipset in there, along with an improved FaceTime HD camera with f/2.2 aperture, and support for both 802.11ac Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.1. Those are all the hardware details we have for now, but one thing that will be missing will be 3D Touch, which will remain exclusive to the bigger iPhones.
It is claimed that this smaller product is ready for production and can be launched very soon if Apple doesn't change its mind about it in the meantime. If certain past rumors are true, then this upgraded iPhone 5s should see the light of day in the first half of 2016.

iPad Pro: 4GB of RAM Confirmed By Adobe

Yesterday, Apple had its big annual announcement where the new iPhone 6s lineup was introduced, much to the expectations of everyone in the industry. And after a couple of years of dealing with various leaks and rumors on the matter, the fabled iPad Pro also hit the stage and became a reality.

During yesterday’s keynote, Apple revealed a ton of exciting things about the new iPad, including some display technologies and characteristics, along with a few details about performance and accessories (such as the Apple Pencil and the keyboard cover for a touch of productivity). However, while the Cupertino giant was kind enough to reveal the new A9X chip powering the large 12.9-inch slate, the company failed to mention the amount of RAM working along with the CPU. Thankfully, Adobe just spilled the beans in one of its recent press releases and confirmed that the iPad Pro will pack 4GB of RAM. More details below.
iPad Pro: 4GB of RAM Confirmed By Adobe
IPAD PRO: 4GB OF RAM CONFIRMED BY ADOBE
As expected given iPad Pro’s productivity-oriented approach, one of the developers who stepped on the stage yesterday during Apple’s keynote was Adobe. The company showcased some of the next-gen Creative Cloud applications, including the brand new Photoshop Fix, along with Adobe Comp CC and Adobe Photoshop Sketch.
The developer also had the opportunity to showcase how these applications can be used in iOS 9’s multitasking environment, and needless to say everything went quite smoothly. No wonder, given that the iPad Pro is apparently equipped with 4GB of RAM.
This has yet to be confirmed by Apple, but as we’ve mentioned above, Adobe revealed the amount of 4GB of RAM in its recent press release regarding the aforementioned Creative Cloud apps, so we assume that the information is accurate.
In any case, 4GB of RAM should be plenty for productivity, especially for iOS users. It now remains to be seen if Apple made similar changes in its iPhone lineup too. Stay tuned.

Apple iPhone 6s Plus is now official with 12MP OIS camera

Today Apple announced the next generation iPhones - the 4.7" iPhone 6s and the 5.5" iPhone 6s Plus. The bigger iPhone 6s Plus utilizes an improved Aluminum 7000 series unibody shell, and brings several novelties on its specs sheet despite looking the same as before.

The iPhone 6s Plus keeps the 5.5" IPS display of 1080p resolution (400ppi density), but adds 3D Touch technology underneath. This allows new interaction on system-wide level, just like on the Apple Watch. Now the iOS can differentiate the taps from the force presses and trigger different actions for each. This is possible thanks to a new layer of sensors embedded in the back-lightning.
The iPhone 6s Plus also features a new taptic engine capable of more precise haptic feedback for the different gestures.
The next major change is the new A9 chip. According to Apple it offers 80% mode processing and 90% more graphics power than the A8 generation. We can't yet confirm the exact CPU core count and speed, neither can we shed details on the new GPU and RAM amount just yet. The rumors suggested the RAM remains 1GB though.
There is also a new M9 co-processor, which just like its predecessors is always on and tracks your activity. It also allows for the "Hey Siri" command, which activates Siri immediately.
Finally, the camera department has received a long overdue boost. The main camera now has a 12MP sensor and comes with optical image stabilization. As before, it is accompanied by a dual-LED dual-tone flash.
The camera also got a new option called Live Photos - similar to HTC's ZOE it lets you record 1.5s of video either side of the moment you press the shutter key, and later produces images that actually move when you press them. You can set up such a picture on your lockscreen and see it go live upon a press.

Thanks to the new higher resolution sensor the iPhone 6s Plus is now capable of capturing 2160p videos.
The front camera finally receives a resolution boost as well - it now uses a 5MP sensor, supports face detection and you can capture 1080p videos, with it. You can also use the display as the so-called Retina Flash. It will light up more than usual and help you take better selfies in the dark as long as you keep the phone close to your face.
The iPhone 6s Plus supports LTE Cat.6 connectivity, NFC for Apple Pay only, faster Wi-Fi 802.11ac with MIMO support and VoLTE.
There is a new second generation Touch ID sensor, which halves the response time.
The rumors about a new color option were correct - in addition to the Silver, Space Gray and Gold paintjobs, we are also getting a Rose Gold flavor.

The Apple iPhone 6s Plus will start at $299 for the 16GB version, while the 64GB and 128GB will retail for $399 and $499, respectively. These prices are with a two-year contract on AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile, or Sprint in the US.
The off-contract prices are $749, $849, $949 for the iPhone 6s Plus for 16, 64 and 128GB options. The EU prices begin at €849 (£619 in UK) for the base 16GB version, but prices will quickly rise up if you go for the versions with more storage. €959 (£699) will get you the 64GB version, while the 128GB version will cost €1,069 (£789).

Apple is also introducing a new program called iPhone Upgrade Program. It will be available via the Apple Retail Stores and will allow you to get an unlocked new iPhone every year. It will cost you $32/month and includes Apple Care+.

The iPhone 6s Plus pre-orders commence on September 12 and shipments being on September 25 for Australia, Canada, China, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, Puerto Rico, Singapore, UK and the US.

Apple iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus event - what to expect

If you are an Apple fan who can't wait to get your hands on the next iPhone or are simply a devoted smartphone fan, then today is definitely a joyous occasion. Cupertino scheduled the grand event for today at 5PM GMT and the stars of the show will definitely be the new iPhone 6s and 6s Plus duo. In a welcome change of pace, Apple has promised a live stream freely accessible for everybody, not just Apple device owners. So, getting a live feed will hopefully be easier this time around and you can follow the announcements in real time.

iPhone 6s and 6s Plus

As for the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus – their names are in keeping with Apple tradition and signify that they should be upgraded versions of the existing 6 and 6 Plus duo, rather than bring a new design. This is generally the case with "s" iterations and it’s a good thing too as current accessories should be quite compatible with your shiny new iPhone. Be warned, though, quite a few rumors are suggesting that that both the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus will be slightly thicker than their predecessors and there are a few good reasons to believe so.
For one, it is almost certain that Apple has equipped its new smartphones with the Force Touch technology it introduced in its Watch and MacBook family. The extra layer of hardwaredoes take up some space, but should also bring an array of exciting new gestures and features to the device.

Another possible culprit for the extra girth is the all new camera setup. The next iPhone generation will allegedly be getting a long-overdue camera upgrade, replacing the old 8MP main shooter with a 12MP one, which will also capture 4K videos. Sadly, not much else is knows about the camera in terms of special focus systems or optical image stabilization, which, if present, definitely take up more room as well.
The front camera might also be getting a significant bump. There is not much to go by, but analleged front panel was recently leaked that had some extra space for a larger selfie shooter lens.
As for the rest of the specs, we can expect the same 4.7” and 5.5” display variants, but resolution upgrades are definitely not out of the question. The computing will come courtesy of a new A9 chip and there has been quite a controversy about the memory. What was initially considered to be 2GB of RAM was later disputed with claims of retaining the current amount of 1GB. We can't really be sure which leak to trust and it could swing either way, but to be fair RAM has never been a major issue in the iOS realm.
Storage, on the other hand, is quite a different story, with a lot of current iPhone users finding the basic 16GB option as a little constraining. Sadly, sources currently claim the same storage options for the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus as well – 16GB, 64GB and 128GB. We are not sure how that is going to pan out if 4K video capture become a reality as well.

Last, but definitely not least, there is the question of availability and price. From what we have hears so far, it appears the two iPhones will go up for preorder on September 11 and should be hitting retail stores around September 18, which is more or less in tune with what we have seen in previous years. Pricing should also be quite comparable with the current generation, perhaps even unchanged, according to a leaked Dutch source.

iPad Pro

Apple will most likely unveil at least a few other things at today's conference and one other device that has made a comeback to the rumor mill is the iPad Pro. The idea for a large 12.9-inch tablet is actually far from new and has been around since January 2014, but a few new renders and elevated interest on the matter have once again rekindled hopes that Apple is finally going to make the spacious tablet a reality.

As for specs of the iPad Pro, we don’t really have any substantial leaks to go by, but we definitely expect powerful hardware, perhaps an A9x chip, which would allow the device to run two iOS apps side by side.

Force Touch should also be part of the bundle, although there have also been some odd claims of a separate Force Touch stylus and even a second-screen Smart cover.

Next-gen Apple TV

As an extra treat, it appears that Apple might showcase yet another new piece of hardware at the venue – a new Apple TV. The device is said to be more-powerful then previous generation with a new remote that could double as a controller, making the box marketable as a gaming rig.

The plot thickens further with speculations of a dedicated segment in the App Store, specifically for getting games for the new TV box, which is said to cost about $150. Analysts don't really expect anything too powerful that could take on the likes of Microsoft's Xbox One of Sony's PS4, but rather a device geared to the casual gamer.
If executed properly the reportedly A8 SoC-based unit could bring the thriving iOS gaming industry to a bigger screen.

Goldgenie customers are too rich to wait, can pre-order 24K gold iPhone 6s and 6s Plus now

They say money can't buy happiness, but it certainly lets you cut in line... for a 24K gold-plated iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus. We know, they haven’t been announced yet, but their prompt arrival is no secret. And this one is a lot cheaper than the $200K Brikk iPhone 6s.
Goldgenie gives you several bling levels. Elite coats your iPhone 6s or 6s Plus in Platinum, Gold or Rose Gold for a mere £2,500 (yes, both 6s and 6s Plus are the same price). You get a snazzy Cherry Oak box too. This is for the 64GB version subtract/add £200 for the 16GB and 128GB versions respectively.

Swarovski Style Brilliance Elite is almost as pompous as its name, adding Swarovski crystals on the top and bottom panels on the back and along the side. And because someone at Goldgenie failed their Economics 101 class, these models also cost £2,500. Wait, the iPhone 6s Plus is £100 cheaper?

The Supernova option is an even bigger explosion of Swarovski crystals, covering the whole back. The price is (you guessed it) £2,500.

The Crocodile Embossed Leather & Swarovski Style Crystal Logo collection goes for the 3-in-1, coating the phone in Gold, the back with Red or Black crocodile leather and studding the Apple logo with Swarovski crystals. No need to ask how much this one costs.

Finally, capitalism wins over the flat rate shenanigans of the other models and the Diamond RockStar Limited edition bumps the price to £10,000 (hey, you get 128GB as standard. This one looks like the Brilliance Elite version, except this time it's true diamond brilliance rather than Austrian-sourced pseudo-gems.

An important note – these prices are without VAT (which alone will cost as much as a new iPhone). Also you need to deposit 50% beforehand. You do get free shipping so that's something we guess.

New reports of 12MP iPhone 6s with 4K video recording arrive

Rumors agree that with the iPhone 6s generation Apple will upgrade the camera that hasn’t seen a major improvement since the iPhone 4S in 2011. The new shooter will have a 12MP sensor (or perhaps 13MP with the extra used for digital stabilization) and will record 2160p video.
The new Apple A9 chipset will feature improved ISP for better image processing with hints of a top-notch HDR mode.
The selfie camera, which may get a 5MP sensor, will reportedly use a white screen in lieu of LED flash on the front (a trick LG did with the LG G Pro 2, some apps do it too). The new camera will enable slow-mo selfies at 720p apparently and better video recording overall (current iPhones are stuck at 1.2MP/720p).

The iPhone 6s and 6s Plus will be unveiled on September 9 and we have our fingers crossed for more base storage (thinking about 4K video in 16GB storage makes us wince).

Are those the rose gold iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus?

The next generation iPhones - the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus - have starred in lots of rumors recently. One of those reports suggested the phones will be available in a new Rose Gold color option in addition to the Space Gray, Silver and Gold paintjobs.
Today a few supposedly leaked pictures show how the new iPhones will look in Rose Gold. Check them out.

And a few more images:

Unfortunately the Rose Gold looks too pink in some of the photos, which may hint they are fake. Aren't those supposed to look like this?

On the other hand - the official announcement will be happening in just a month, which means the new iPhones have already entered into mass production and there is a possibility those pictures are the real deal.
Keep calm and take those pictures with a grain of salt. Meanwhile you can share with us how you imagine the Rose Gold flavor will look like.

iOS 9 code points at upcoming iPhone with front-facing flash

Code within the freshly released Apple iOS 9 developer beta suggests that the next iPhone might feature a vastly improved front-facing camera with LED flash. The Cupertino giant is expected to reveal the successors of iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus in September.
Other potential features of the front-facing snapper include 1080p video recording, 720p slow-motion capture at 240fps, as well as the option to shoot panoramas. Those features are currently reserve only for the main camera of the Apple iPhone family.
A capable front-facing camera will surely be a welcome sight in the next iPhone iteration, especially the selfie’s constantly increasing popularity. The currently available 1.3MP front unit in the iPhone feels like afterthought compared to the solutions offered in rival high-end smartphones.
